When the answer is the interface, your brand has to be inside it
Generative Engine Optimization is the work of making a brand legible to models that generate answers rather than list links. Our job is to build the machine-readable reason a model would cite you.
- Entity & structured data
- Evidence & citations
- Answer-shaped content
- Ongoing monitoring
- 4 engines
- Monitoring coverage: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Overviews
- 2 weeks
- Typical turnaround for an initial audit
- Monthly
- Citation and share-of-answer reporting cadence
The problem
Classic SEO was built for a results page. The answer layer plays by different rules.
In answer-driven search, a user often never clicks a link at all. The model reads several sources, synthesizes, and produces one answer. If your brand isn't part of that synthesis, it doesn't matter how well you rank in the traditional index.
Models cite what they can quickly verify: a clear entity, specific claims, dates, traceable sources and clean structure. Vague marketing copy is precisely what gets dropped.
GEO work is, in large part, the removal of ambiguity — who you are, what you do, for whom, with what evidence, and where that claim can be checked.
Signs you need this
- Competitors get mentioned in ChatGPT or Perplexity answers and you don't
- Organic traffic is stable but leads have dropped
- Models describe your brand with outdated or incorrect information
- You have plenty of content but none of it is citable
- Structured data is missing or incomplete
These patterns come from real audits and are usually our starting point.
What we build
Five layers that together make a brand visible inside AI answers.
Entity layer
A precise definition of the brand as an entity: legal name, category, offerings, key people and links to recognised industry entities.
- Brand identity page
- sameAs and verified profiles
- Related-entity mapping
Answer-shaped content
Rewriting content around question-and-answer structure, explicit definitions, scope, and a quotable summary at the top of each section.
- Explicit definition in the first lines
- Real user questions
- Extractable summaries
Evidence & citations
Adding numbers, dates, methodology and sources to claims so a model can verify and confidently quote them.
- Transparent methodology
- Update dates
- Traceable external sources
Structured data
Implementing and validating JSON-LD matched to page type: Organization, Service, Product, Article, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList.
- Error-free schema
- Schema aligned with copy
- Coverage across all templates
Answer monitoring
Periodically running a set of industry-relevant queries against major models and logging who gets mentioned, in what tone, citing which source.
- Dedicated query set
- Competitor and source tracking
- Month-over-month trend
Crawler accessibility
Making sure core content is readable without JavaScript, server response is fast, and AI crawlers aren't blocked.
- Server-side rendering
- robots and access checks
- Response speed and stability
How the engagement runs
Four phases, each with a defined output.
- 01
Baseline audit
Run the industry query set against answer engines, review entity clarity, schema and crawler access. Output: a prioritised gap report.
- 02
Entity & query mapping
Define which topics the brand should be authoritative on, which queries matter, and which pages should answer them.
- 03
Content & data implementation
Rewrite and restructure target pages, implement JSON-LD, add evidence, fix technical issues affecting readability.
- 04
Monitoring & iteration
Monthly report on mention share, shifts in cited sources, and next-cycle priorities.
